Need a better windows xp randomization for videos?

I've collected a mass of tv shows and movies and play them thru the tv, now i've noticed something over time, windows xp randomization is terrible, out of like 7000 shows i only see like 50 of them, there a way of improving randomization a bit here. I use media player classic and vlc, no difference, now when i used vlc back when i tried ubuntu linux i got a lot better play back but the os was so wonky and wouldnt share files properly that i just gave up went back to xp. Anyone got any ideas here on how to improve windows xp randomizations.
