First time dealing with kidney stones, what do?

I had a horrible experience today with kidney stones and I went through several hours of pain that I can only describe as "mind-blowing." I don't ever want to have to go through that again! I am at home now, doing much better and trying to pass the stone and wanted to ask if anyone can give me some advice. Thanks.
